The Sunday Times picks Jane Hornby’s dishes for its classic weekend menu
The paper's Dish magazine reproduced her Mexican huevos rancheros, tarragon chicken and profiteroles recipes
There are few meals more traditionally British than the Sunday lunch; and the Sunday Times’s food supplement, Dish, is something of a bellwether, when it comes to the country’s culinary tastes.
So, we’re delighted to see Jane Hornby’s dishes included in the February edition of Dish. The supplement devoted six pages to dishes from her new book Simple & Classic, designating Jane’s huevos rancheros (Mexican spiced beans with eggs), roast chicken with tarragon sauce and profiteroles as its classic Sunday menu.
These are hardly the most traditional of choices, but the Sunday Times was clearly won over by Hornby’s easy, failure proof guidance, her culinary nounce and her great taste.
The paper designated the tarragon chicken dish its “showstopping weekend recipe”, and Dish’s editor Lisa Markwell, encouraged readers to tag images of their attempts at this and the other two dish with the Sunday Times’ Instagram handle @sundaytimesfood.
